Cynthia Towler is the Chorus Director at Avon High School. 2011 marks the third year that Mrs. Towler has sung with the Rochester Oratorio Society as a Choral Fellow and has brought advanced level choral students with her.

Singing with the ROS was my first experience singing with a professional choir. It sparked my interest in classical music!

Choral Scholars and
Choral Fellows Program

The Rochester Oratorio Society's Choral Scholars and Choral Fellows Program welcomes vocal music educators and their students to sing with the Rochester Oratorio Society for one concert cycle of the year.  Participating teachers can apply for professional development credit, if available, through their individual schools.

Choral Scholars -- High-school level voice students
Choral Fellows -- Vocal music educators

Rochester area music teachers and church choir directors are cordially invited to sing choral masterworks with the Rochester Oratorio Society for only a short time commitment.  These teachers are encouraged to bring with them one (or more!) of their experienced high school students to share in the experience.

The ROS Choral Scholars and Choral Fellows Program has flourished since 2008.  Our past Choral Fellows teach at the elementary, middle and high school levels, in both public and private schools. They come from as far away as Orleans and Livingston Counties.

How does the program work?

Select the concert cycle in which you would like to participate, attend all Monday rehearsals 7:30 to 10:00 PM (one excused absence is acceptable), and sing in the final performance(s).
