Dennis W. Rosenbaum finds his role as Arts Administrator for the Rochester Oratorio Society to be the perfect blend of his business skills and his musical background. Dennis moved to Rochester in 1984 to get an MBA from the William E. Simon School of Management at the University of Rochester. Since graduating in 1986, Dennis has worked for Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, Paychex, One Communications, and, most recently, Xerox, as a financial analyst. He has sung in the Rochester Oratorio Society since 1989, and has also sung with Eastman Rochester Chorus, Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus, Mercury Opera Rochester, and Rochester Lyric, and is currently the tenor section leader at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Born in Glens Falls, NY, Dennis mostly grew up around the Philadelphia area. His musical training started with flute lessons in the fourth grade, and by the time he finished high school, he was also playing clarinet and oboe. Upon finishing high school, Dennis went to Oberlin College, where he majored in mathematics and music, completing his BA in 1984. While he had always loved to sing, he started formal vocal training while at Oberlin, and continues to study at the Hochstein Music School. He also started composing while at Oberlin, and has published twenty-two pieces to date.
In addition to singing in ROS, Dennis has also served on the board of directors, including six years as treasurer. He currently chairs the Artistic Committee. He figures his knowledge of the inner workings of ROS will help him a lot in his new position.
Dennis is excited to about his new role as Arts Administrator, and looks forward to being able to use his skills and connections to help move ROS forward.
