“A CITY SINGS FOR THE SEASON” FREE CONCERT TO BENEFIT CHARITY

Rochester’s iconic Sibley Building is again the venue for “A CITY SINGS FOR THE SEASON,” the third-annual community holiday celebration of music and dance presented by the Rochester Oratorio Society, Sunday, December 4, 2016, 3:00 P.M., at the Sibley Building atrium, 228 E. Main Street, in Rochester. Admission is free of charge. Donations of food items, cash and personal care items accepted at the door benefit the Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (RAIHN).

Performing this year are the HOCHSTEIN YOUTH SINGERS, Maryellen Giese, Director; the DUNWOODY DANCERS, Andrae Dunwoody, Director; the MOUNT VERNON MISSIONARY BAPTIST MALE CHORUS, Thomas Green, Director; and ROCMusic Collaborative, directed by Alexander Peña. Julia Figueras, Music Director and Mid-day Host for WXXI Classical 91.5, offers seasonal readings. The ORATORIO SOCIETY chorus and its touring small ensemble RESONANZ perform under Artistic Director ERIC TOWNELL.

WINNCO donates use of the space for the performance. The City of Rochester co-sponsors the event, and the Hochstein School of Music and Dance, Canandaigua National Bank, The Clover Center for Arts and Spirituality and Nocon & Associates, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc., are major sponsors.

The Rochester Oratorio Society, the region’s premier large mixed chorus for adults, presents 4-6 performances annually, sings with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and presents the international vocal competition, CLASSICAL IDOL, each spring.
