The Rochester International Vocal Competition is a world-renowned opportunity helping to
launch careers. Compete for world-class judges as well as opportunities for cash prizes and solo performances with
the Rochester Oratorio Society and other professional engagements. Past contestants have gone on to perform around
the globe, from the Metropolitan Opera to Europe and beyond.
This year’s competition will feature two categories – Professional and Emerging Artist (new).

Program Design and Dates
The 2025 Rochester International Vocal Competition is adjudicated in two categories. Those who advance to the semi-finalist round in both categories will be listened to by our competition judges and outside adjudicators and may be given consideration for solo performances with the Rochester Oratorio Society and others.
PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS: Initial judging is by audio submissions only. From these, twelve contestants will be selected to advance to the semi-final round. These twelve artists will be offered the opportunity to update their materials prior to the subsequent judging round. Three of these finalists will be selected to perform live for our celebrity judge, who will determine the grand prize winner and award the second and third prizes. The three finalists must agree to be available in person for a live final round in Rochester, New York, on May 17, 2025. We’re covering travel and lodging expenses, and they all also receive a cash award. Those advancing will be notified on or about April 17, 2025.
EMERGING ARTISTS: One Emerging Artist (must be enrolled in an academic program) will be selected as a prizewinner from the recorded audition. Emerging Artist results will be announced on or about April 17, 2025. The winner agrees to provide a videorecorded performance for the competition virtual showcase, which will be held at a later date, for an additional honorarium.
