Performance Opportunities | Cash Prizes | World-Class Judges
The Rochester International Vocal Competition is a world-renowned opportunity helping to
launch careers. Compete for world-class judges as well as opportunities for cash prizes and solo performances with
the Rochester Oratorio Society and other professional engagements. Past contestants have gone on to perform around
the globe, from the Metropolitan Opera to Europe and beyond.
This year’s competition will feature two categories – Professional and Emerging Artist (new).

Finalists will be invited to submit a high quality performance video to be streamed during the RIVC Showcase, held
virtually in May of 2024, date and time TBA.
An additional stipend will be offered for this submission, and artists will be considered for the Audience Favorite
Award of $250 based on viewer voting.

Audition Requirements
Please submit audio recordings of 2-5 pieces, not to exceed 15 minutes total duration. The selections may be from the
operatic, oratorio or art song genres, chosen to represent your best work in a variety of styles. No video recordings
accepted.
Your audition recordings must:
- be your own performances, accompanied or unaccompanied
- not exceed 15 minutes of music
- be unedited, except for duration
- include selections in your order of preference with the strongest performances first

The 2024 Rochester International Vocal Competition will be adjudicated in two categories: Emerging Artists (must be
currently enrolled in vocal performance study at an academic institution); and Professional Artists. Applications are
accepted until 11:59 PM on January 21, 2024, for both categories.
PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS: Twenty contestants will be selected to advance to the semi-final round. Of these, ten will be
selected for the final round, to be announced on 1/29/24. Finalists will have the option to update their credentials by
2/4/24. Three prizewinners will be notified and requested to submit high-quality performance videos no later than 3/1/24
for our virtual Winners’ Showcase in May, 2024 (additional stipend will be provided).
EMERGING ARTISTS: One Emerging Artist will be selected as a prizewinner. Emerging Artist prizewinners residing within 50
miles of Rochester, NY, may be invited to perform at a live showcase.
